Established in 2006, the VTC has long-standing experience in performing numerous international clinical trials in cooperation with renowned industry partners. The VTC has proven to produce high quality data for different Sponsors, Contract Research Organizations and Academic Units. Our highly qualified multidisciplinary team consists of Ophthalmologists, Optometrists, Clinical Trial Coordinators, Operators, Technicians and Administrative Staff. Our wide range of state-of-the-art medical equipment, along with certified and professional staff, enables us to conduct clinical trials according to the relevant trial protocols incorporating international and national regulatory standards.
The undisputable integrity of our data has been verified over the past years via several successful audits, receiving solid recognition for our department’s Standard Operating Procedures, comprehensive and professional source documents, and detailed documentation practice.
The Department of Ophthalmology and Optometry at the MUV records more than 160.000 patient visits each year from patients with all categories of eye disorders and visual system diseases. Renowned faculty representing various ophthalmic specialty such as retina, anterior segment, glaucoma, neuro-ophthalmology are permanently on site. Therefore, we have access to large populations of eligible patients for screening and potential enrolment into various clinical trials.
Close collaborations between the Department of Ophthalmology & Optometry and other departments and divisions at the Vienna General Hospital, such as the Vienna Reading Center, the Ophthalmic Imaging Group (OPTIMA), the Computational Imaging Research Group (CIR), the Department for Medical Physics et. al. further optimizes and enhances overall clinical and academic services.
